Left Killarney Provincial Park early to get to Lake Superior campsite long before dark. Things are a lot easier on the road if you been down these roads before, as we have been, four times already.
The Defender started to overheat again today. I failed to check my antifreeze level this morning. To save five minutes this morning, i lost more time on the road. Rule number one is to follow my rules, but i did not, so i paid the penalty.
Erde got her first "bad dog" of the trip scolding today, but since she is deaf, or pretends to be, it was all for naught. When i got out of the Defender to register at the camp, she devoured half a box of dog treats i had just bought for her.
Now camping in a wonderful sight overlooking the beach on Lake Superior. Next door is camped woman named Pam who is just returning home from a three-month journey to the Yukon and Alaska with her wonderful little dog, Rainne. I brought Erde by to meet Rainne, and after a quick greeting, as dogs are wont to do, Erde immediately found Rainne's food and devoured what was left, and then stole her chewy treat that was not to far away. It's not as if Erde is not fed well. She just has this pesky habit of thinking all other dogs are getting a better deal, when it's just the reverse. As for her own food, she is a picky eater, whereas Leben always, without exception, ate all the food put in front if him right away. Erde holds out for something better, and as of tonight I have given in for the last time.
Tomorrow we head around Lake Superior to Pukaskwa, where Leben became paralyzed two years ago. Then on to Thunder Bay for a few days, where we will decide what happens after that.if we continue west, i hope the roads in Calgary are cleared of the three feet of snow they got the other day.
Below us a pix of our campsite at Killarney. The two wheels mounted on my spare tire are for Leben's, now Erde's, stroller, in case she needs it.
